India’s Private Market Rise

Since the enactment of the Companies Act in 2013, India’s market capitalization has expanded by more than USD 3 trillion, rising from around USD 1.5 trillion to nearly USD 5 trillion today. The market is projected to add another USD 15 trillion over the next decade and a half.

With a median age of around 28 years, more than 200 million young Indians are expected to enter the workforce this decade, the largest wave of new talent anywhere in the world. Supported by these demographics and strong fundamentals, India has developed one of the most dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystems globally, hosting over 100 unicorns and 80,000 startups, and ranking among the top three nations for new venture creation.

Over the past two years, we at Sogne Strategies , have been closely following developments in India’s public and private markets, with particular focus on institutional growth, corporate governance, and the strengthening of the rule-of-law framework. In the context of shifting global supply chains, the rebalancing of economic dependencies, and ongoing policy reform, India is emerging as one of the world’s most important destinations for sustainable and compelling private-market opportunities.

Against this backdrop, we will collaborate with a select group of Indian investment managers across private equity, private credit, and infrastructure, focusing on sectors such as energy transition, digital infrastructure, healthcare, and next-generation industrials.

To strengthen dialogue and mutual learning, we will host informal sessions across the Nordics in 2026, featuring perspectives from our Indian partners.
